Sermon Series: Philippians
Rejoice always
Philippians 4:1-9
The basic premise of this passage is:
… we are to be living a life that is c______________ by a singular lack of worry, or anxiety on our part, and i_______________ by a practical expression of "sweet reasonableness" and the result of this is that we will know p___________!!!
First key is "Right P______________" Vs 6 & 7...
- The Greek word that is translated here as "anxious" or "careful" means "to be pulled in d____________ d______________"....
- Webster tells us that the Old English root word that we get our word "worry" from means "to strangle, or choke".
From the spiritual point of view, worry is "wrong t____________" (that is the activity of the mind,) and "wrong f_________________", (the activity of the heart that is reacting to that wrong thinking)
The Scriptures point out, "And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts (wrong feeling) and minds (wrong thinking) in Christ Jesus." (Vs 7).
“Prayer", as the word is used here is the general word for communicating with God.... it carries the idea of a_____________, devotion, and worship.
The second word that is used here is "petition" or "Supplication"... sharing of our n_______ and p_____________.
Then comes the natural response to believing God... t_______________!!!
The second key is: "T________ right" vs. 8
"Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose m_______ is stayed on Thee: because he trusteth in Thee." (Isa. 26:3)
“Finally, brothers, whatever is t_______, whatever is n___________, whatever is r_________, whatever is p________, whatever is l___________, whatever is a______________--if anything is e________________ or p______________—think about such things.”
Note: this is a command to discipline the mind!!!!
We are to treat these things as the g________ v______ system…
M_____________ = “to reflect on; or to muse over”
The third key is that we need to DO Right!
“Those things, which ye have both learned and received, and heard and seen in me, Do:and the God of peace shall be with you!”
We need to m_________ what we b________…
